Lace Up Your Shoes and Get Out There.

Lace Up Your Shoes and Get Out There.

As Dink says, 'sometimes you just got to lace up your shoes and get out the door.' This morning was one of those days.

The alarm startled me out of my sleep but what I heard next was the sound of pouring rain. I quickly began to think, "wonder if anyone is going to show up for the Breakfast Club Run."

At 5:15 AM no one was there.

At 5:20 AM no one was there.

But at 5:25 AM one car rolled into the parking lot and it wasn't a car I recognized.

And then there were two more.

Four of us were there to log our miles. "What's a little rain? In June you will be wet at the end of a run even if it is not raining." I was joined by three women. Where were the guys?

The coolest part of the run was that a tourist from California found the Fleet Feet Huntsville website, saw there was an early morning run and decided to join us.  I had the privilege of running with Tara. She was here for a few days scoping out the possibility of relocating to Huntsville from California. I should get a bonus from the chamber of commerce for selling her on Huntsville.

Tara has it right, one of the best ways to connect with people in a new city is to find a running group. That's the way I did it and Fleet Feet is a great place to start.

Next Thursday morning we will meet again, rain or shine, to run five miles...come join us.
