Two Things

In a recent staff meeting, I asked each team member to share ‘two things,’ two strengths that they bring to the team. The purpose of this exercise was twofold: 1) it would help the whole team see the unique gifts of each member and 2) it would give the opportunity for me, the leader, to encourage the team about their uniqueness and challenge them to focus on their strengths. As we walked through the exercise I was blessed to see who God has put together as a group of individuals to form a strong team. It was also encouraging to see how our gifts and talents, when grouped as a team, become much stronger than the individuals.

Also as we talked around the table it was obvious to me that one team member was leaving out one of his greatest strengths. By recognizing this and challenging him on his omission, we as a team were able to encourage him and let him see how important he was to our team.

Have you taken the time to go through this type of process with your team?  It can be a great way for the team to see how they are much better together than apart.
