There was a day when the church sang enthusiastically songs about heaven. Growing up it seemed that every worship service had at least one song that reminded believers of the promise of heaven. In recent years there seems to be a swing of the pendulum in the opposite direction, rarely do we sing songs of heaven. Part of the reason there are less songs sung about heaven is the resurgence in vertical worship or songs sung to God. Is another reason we don't sing songs about heaven is that we are comfortable with our life hear on earth? Can we really sing with honesty

'Lord haste the day when my faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back as a scroll The trumpet shall sound and the Lord shall descend...'

Tomorrow at ClearView, the church I serve, we are going to sing about heaven because it is part of our story and one of the promises of God. Here are some scriptures and songs we will use in worship:
