I have never lived close to my aunts, uncles and cousins. So it is a real treat to connect with them again at family reunions. But each time we get together it is like starting all over again. We have to catch up on all that has happened in our lives since the last time we met. Between meetings we rarely talk and if so it is a quick post on some social networking site. There are no long letters or lengthy phone calls, therefore even though we are family there is no real connection or deep relationship. Each time we meet we start over, but there is never time to go deeper.
Gathering for worship services is much like a family reunion, with the main conversation being with the head of the family. If Sunday is the only day I have talked to him during the week then the conversation doesn’t go very deep.
When I have been in a conversation with God throughout the week I am more sensitive to his voice, he has already been speaking to me, leading me to the next level of conversation, Sunday is just a continuation of the relationship.
It’s not too late to start…
It’s my fault that the conversations with my relatives have to start over again each time we meet. I could easily invest some time in the relationship.
Conversing with God is the same…if I invest time with Him then I am ready to engage when I enter a place designated for corporate worship.
It’s not too late to start; even beginning the conversation today will make it easier to continue tomorrow.
