A Week At the Beech

After a seven hour drive my family and I are now at thebeech.  It is a week we look forward to each year.  This year is different...it is only the four of us.  It has been many years since we took a vacation just the four of us and never for an extended period of time.  We usually go with friends or family or the kids bring friends so that Melissa and I don’t have to hear them say they are ‘bored.’ I guess because they are older now they seem very content to be here…just the four of us.

The place we are staying has a balcony that looks right out on the Gulf of Mexico. I spent some time out there tonight reading in Psalms. The roar of the waves was prominent and here are some of the scriptures that were into today’s reading:

The mighty oceans have roared, O Lord. The mighty oceans roar like thunder; the mighty oceans roar as they pound the shore. But mightier than the violent raging of the seas, mightier than the breakers on the shore – the Lord above is mightier than these.
Psalm 93:3,4.

A second post on the first day of vacation...why?
